Meditation is a great self development tool to add to your toolbox.
What is Meditation?
Meditation is where you focus on a particular thought, feeling, object, breath, mantra, visualisation or sensations within your body; to bring yourself into the present moment. While focusing on a particular thing, you will slow down all other thoughts that are rushing through your mind. Meditation encourages a mind of focus, awareness and presence. There are several different types of meditation; mindfulness, spiritual, movement, visualisation, focused and mantra to name a few.
Mindfulness mediation is great for beginners, it is where you are intensely aware of your senses, feelings and thoughts. You will let go of all negativity and tune into what you are sensing in the present moment.
There are two main ways to meditate; either guided or unguided. Guided is where a teacher guides you though the meditation in person, video or audio and unguided is self directed in silence or with music, however there are no words or instruction.

Beginners Meditation Practise
If you are a complete beginner to meditation I highly recommend the app “Smiling Mind”. This app is completely free. It has a program called “An Intro to Mindfulness”, this program contains 6 sessions, all only arranging from one minute to six minutes long. The first three sessions take you through; what mindfulness is, why we need to be mindful and how to practise mindfulness. The next three sessions are all guided mediations. Once you complete this program, the app has other programs and guided mediations that build upon your learnings.
Another app I recommend is 1 Giant Mind, it is also free. It has a 12 step process to learn meditation, a 30 day challenge and a meditation timer. Once you are further advanced, spotify has plenty of meditation playlists with some great music for unguided meditations.
I would love to hear from you all, feel free to dm me.
